This course is an introduction to the history and development of the Christian Church. Attention will be given to various church periods, persons, events, doctrines, and schisms. Students who successfully complete this course will be able to: - Describe the history of the Christian church in terms of major movements, events, and personalities. - Identify and evaluate major events and turning points in church history. - Describe the strengths and weaknesses of church movements and time periods. - Develop a sense of the Christian church heritage that will add depth to personal ministry.
The Old Testament (or Hebrew Bible) is the record of the interaction between the people of ancient Israel and their God. This course introduces students to the literature of ancient Israel, its rituals, the stories which established a people’s identity, and which defined their moral behavior. This course focuses on the Pentateuch and Historical books.
